Red Wings welcome back Mike Green, not raising white flag | MLive

The Red Wings are 13-8-2 with Green in the lineup and 3-14-5 without him. Despite missing nearly half their games, he leads defensemen with 16 points (three goals, 13 assists). His plus-10 rating tops the team and he leads all Red Wings in average ice time (21:56).

Hello Mike Green. I bet the Wings win tonight.

With the Red Wings headed for the lottery, that makes Howard even more enticing to a contender as the next-best rental option that’s readily available. On his part, Howard has done wonders for his trade value despite the very pronounced lack of support in from of him. It has been some time since he managed to be both healthy and good in the same season -- you’d have to go all the way back to the 2012-13 lockout-shortened campaign, when he had a .923 save percentage while starting 42 of the team’s 48 games -- which makes this bounce back particularly well-timed.

Goodbye Jimmy Howard? Plenty more about him in this one.
