In Red Wings Land
As season heads to its finish, many storylines still around Red Wings | The Detroit News
Many fans will want to see the Wings collapse further, finish with the worst record, and have the best odds to select forward Jack Hughes (USA National Development Team) in the Entry Draft.
Other fans … well, no, judging by social media, most all want to see the Wings lose and get the best odds.
But there are many other items that will be worth watching in these final two months and a week.
Kulfan brings up plenty of questions in his unofficial Red Wings second half preview and I think he does a pretty good job hitting all the storylines that are worth watching. The biggest for me? It’s easily the upcoming trade deadline and the decisions Ken Holland will make about the futures of Gus Nyquist, Jimmy Howard and Nick Jensen.

31 Thoughts: Three key decisions holding up NHL trade deadline dominos | Sportsnet
I would greatly appreciate it if the Senators decided to keep Mark Stone and Matt Duchene. That would probably move Nyquist up some other teams’ trade boards and maybe increase his value. Plus, Ottawa is better with those two guys and it would prevent them from totally bottoming out and getting the league’s worst record.
