UPDATE: We have finished recording. Tune in Monday!
We are getting ready to record Episode 39 of our NHL podcast “Fer Sure: A 200 Foot Podcast.” If you missed the last episode, you can catch up here.
Please remember that Fer Sure is dedicated to the entire NHL (and more) and that we may not get to all (or any) of the questions. We try to get to at least some of the questions every episode, but we can’t always do it. Our other podcast on the network, WIIM Radio, is dedicated to the Red Wings.
For this episode, we will be talking to Ryan Stimson. He is a Sabres contributor at the Athletic Buffalo. Ryan has written extensively on hockey analytics since 2013. He has pioneered work in player evaluation and game strategy, leading the popular Passing Project for several seasons. Ryan has contributed on analytics and published new research at Hockey Graphs, but also has written on using data to better evaluate hockey systems at The Coaches Site. He has consulted for RIT Men’s Hockey Team since 2015 and coached his first Bantam team in 2017-2018. (From his bio at The Athletic).
He has also recently released a book called Tape to Space: Redefining Modern Hockey Tactics.
Ryan is well versed in hockey analytics, but he is very good at taking data and turning it into useful information to help hockey players and teams.
Please send in questions in the comments, or you can also tweet questions to us here.
As a reminder, this isn’t really a discussion post, and if people start answering the questions that other people ask, it can be difficult to fish through them when we’re recording. Basically, if it doesn’t end in a question mark, please don’t put it here.
Look for Episode 39 in your podcast feeds and this website Monday morning. If you are using a podcast app, you can find both this podcast and WIIM Radio (our podcast devoted to the Red Wings) in the same channel - Winging it in Motown.
