Just when the Detroit Red Wings looked dead in the water, they delivered one of their most thrilling wins of the season on Friday against a very good Predators squad (although they’ve been lukewarm as of late.) Now the Red Wings face a Capitals team that humiliated them a month ago in DC to the tune of 6-2. If there is anything different about these Red Wings from the past two seasons, it is resilience. Hopefully Larkin and the rest of the good guys in red have something to say about December’s debacle in the American capital.

The Caps themselves are in the midst of a three game skid. During that time Alex Ovechkin has been held to a single point, a goal two games ago against St. Louis. One guy does not make a team, but he is the main engine for the Caps’ offense. Here’s to hoping their offensive woes continue tonight in Detroit. They’re a good team, though, and good teams don’t go on four-game losing streaks too often. Time to see if the Red Wings have the magic in them to send two tough opponents packing in three nights.
