In Red Wings Land
Do you root for them except when they play the Oilers?
Absolutely. I put on an Adirondack Red Wings jersey when I was 27 and I’m now 63. I am happy they are in the East and they are in the West, so other than the two times we play, I’m rooting for them. I’m rooting for them, I’m rooting for Steve, rooting for them to surprise.
It’s cool that Ken Holland still wants the Wings to do well, but I’m rooting for Detroit to blow out the Oilers tonight (...but I won’t be holding my breath).
Feel the Power (Rankings)!
The Red Wings’ top line of Anthony Mantha, Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi is dynamic and fast, fun and effective. But the depth falls off a cliff. Each of those top-liners has more than double the points of any other forward on the roster.

”Hockeytown.” The Red Wings have been sold with the Hockeytown name forever. But at 3-3-0 after a decent start, and with many expecting this to be another rebuilding season for the Wings ...
New slogan: ”Hockeycul-de-sac.”
22. Red Wings
Just thoroughly mediocre.
