Predators Blog: On the Forecheck
It’s deja vu again for the Red Wings. The Wings and Preds last met January 4th with Detroit on a 6-game losing streak then before Dylan Larkin snapped it with the OT winner. The Red Wings come in to tonight’s contest on a 3-game losing streak and are currently 2nd worst in the NHL, 2 points behind the Senators. With the trade deadline 13 days away, I’m just hoping that everyone stay’s healthy so they can make some serious moves at the deadline. It also looks like the Wings will still be without both Tyler Bertuzzi and Trevor Daley. To the Nashville side...
The Preds have lost back-to-back games to the red-hot St. Louis Blues as they come in to tonight’s game. Nashville sits 2-points back of Winnipeg for the top spot in the Central, and also have 10-points separating them and the 3rd place Dallas Stars. It’s the usuals carrying the load again for the Preds: Ryan Johansen, Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, etc. etc. 9 players on Nashville have 25+ points, and Johansen is the team leader only with 50. The Predators are as well-balanced of a hockey team as you can get in today’s NHL. They also recently welcomed back both Nick Bonino and Kyle Turris from injuries, so their whole team is pretty much good to go tonight vs. Detroit, including newly acquired Brian Boyle.
