Senators blog: Silver Seven Sens

I don’t care what you say or think, nothing is more fun then beating the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sit down Team Tank, this is a time where we can all come together, hold hands, and enjoy this silly sport together. But hey, the fun is over. It’s time to get serious — serious about the Senators.

Tonight, it’s the Battle in the Basement — both Detroit and Ottawa are among the worst teams in the NHL, but the former is coming in on a thrilling OT win over one of the NHL’s best teams. The cost? Their best player. Dylan Larkin’s status tonight is a big question mark after leaving OT with an apparent upper-body injury in Friday night’s tilt. That, in itself, could seriously hamper this Detroit team. Larkin has been a serious driving force, a straw that sirs the drink, for this Red Wings team. We’ll wait to see what his status is later in the day, but there haven’t been many rumblings that it’s serious. That could be good, and it could be bad.

If Dylan Larkin can’t play, then they would presumably look to Luke Witkowski to fill the empty roster spot. If that happens, then, well.. lmao. Hey, at least we don’t have to worry about stopping Erik Karlsson? In all seriousness, we hope DL71 is going to be fine.

Also, hope is not a strategy.
