Red Wings’ Evgeny Svechnikov threatens Alex Ovechkin after Capitals star KOs brother | The Detroit News
The fight didn’t sit well with Svechnikov’s older brother, who took to Instagram on Monday night to post, “One, two Freddy’s coming for you,” tagging Ovechkin’s official account.
The line is a nod to the “Nightmare on Elm Street” movie franchise, in which Freddy Krueger haunts the dreams of teens.
This is not the best look for Evgeny Svechnikov and wasn’t a very smart move on his part. It’s a safe guess he was pretty upset watching his brother get knocked out cold by Alex Ovechkin and acted in the heat of the moment. Apparently, the NHL isn’t thrilled with Svechnikov’s comments.
I asked NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly what’s the league reaction to Evgeny Svechnikov post on Instagram tagging Alex Ovechkin: “Stupid Post. There will be an appropriate response.” @DetroitRedWings @Capitals @NHLCanes— Renaud Lavoie (@renlavoietva) April 16, 2019
NEW YORK / TORONTO - Calumet, Mich. - the winner of Kraft Hockeyville™ USA 2019 - will host the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues for an NHL preseason game on Thursday, Sept. 26, Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League (NHL®) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) announced today.
This is great for Red Wings fans up in the U.P.

And for sports fans in Tampa Bay, it was the final chapter in a whole new story of despair. In a way, it was as if an entire community was duped. For six months, the Lightning had you believing you were seeing something historic.
And in the end, it was all choke and mirrors.
Choke and mirrors! That’s an excellent line. Nice work there by the author. Now that the series is over and the unthinkable has happened... Is the Blue Jackets sweep of the Lightning the biggest upset in Stanley Cup playoff history?
