The Wings are in a familiar place of a 4 game losing streak having been outscored the last 3 games 13-3 and our goaltenders facing a billion SOG. But none of that matters because tonight we have the best opportunity we have had and will have all season to absolutely humiliate a rival.

Our best player during this run has been Darren Helm. So...that’s the state of things.

But just imagine being the team that was swept by the (second) worst team in NHL history. It would be a ray of sunshine cutting through the gloom of our season. Tomorrow we can go back to TRADE EVERYONE and our various roster fantasies but today we need the team we have to go out and do the thing.

Simple.

If the potential season sweep isn’t motivation enough, there is a good chance that Shea Weber will be returning to the Habs’ lineup after he practiced with the team yesterday. He was sidelined with an ankle injury that went from DOOM to a few weeks to lol ok a few days.

Montreal is coming to town also with a 4 game losing streak. They blew a 3 goal lead in their last game and blame it, at least 70%, on the refs.

Claude Julien was fined $10k for his commentary on the poor quality of officiating. It will be interesting to see what the refs do for our game. To be faaaaiiirrr a ref probably should not tell a player “you go [bleep] yourself” but it IS the Habs...

We also had our own ref problem when Hronek got high-sticked in the face with no call and we got scored on immediately after.

In any case, the way the Montreal media is in histrionics over the Habs’ place in the standings and how they should tank for Lafreniere you’d think they were the Red Wings.

Amateurs.
