NEW YORK -- Minnesota Wild forward Kevin Fiala has been suspended for three games, without pay, for boarding Los Angeles Kings defenseman Matt Roy during NHL Game No. 118 in Minnesota on Thursday, Jan. 28, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
This hit was from a few days ago, but the league should 100% be suspending players for this type of hit. It’s easily avoidable and clearly dangerous. If people want to say that it’s bad because the suspension is longer than other bad hits, the solution is to lengthen the suspension of the other bad hits.
Yesterday, the NWHL Twitch feed had over 30,000 current viewers. Earlier this week, the high number for a game was about 6,000 viewers. Maybe hedge funds are shorting the viewer numbers. All kidding aside, it’s really great to see.
