Make it back-to-back forward for Steve Yzerman in the 2025 NHL Draft’s first couple of rounds. The Red Wings selected RW Eddie Genborg out of Linkoping (SHL).
Genborg played 28 games in the SHL as a 17-year-old this past season. The numbers aren’t gaudy — just a couple of goals, but there’s something to be said about having such a role at that age. A snippet from EliteProspects Scouting Report:
“Genborg is a physical two-way forward with a strong forechecking presence and good finishing instincts around the net. He hustles hard and throws his weight around on the forecheck, controls the cycle by sealing off pucks and dealing with back pressure and finds ways to win body positioning in the net front.”
Genborg isn’t exactly a small guy, either! Six-foot-two and 205-pounds.
