There won’t be much time off for Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde to start the offseason. Team USA Hockey named Lalonde one of the assistant coaches for the 2023 Men’s National Team. Lalonde, who just finished up his first season as bench boss in Detroit, will serve as assistant alongside Scott Gordon, and Ryan Warsofsky on head coach David Quinn’s staff.

This won’t be Lalonde’s first time serving Team USA Hockey. Previously, the New York native helped the U.S. Junior Select Team as both assistant and head coach in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
