Filip Zadina’s performance keeps him with Red Wings as they focus on his development | Detroit News
Detroit – Filip Zadina was in the lineup Sunday, playing his 10th game of the season for the Red Wings.
That was significant in one sense.
By playing a 10th game, that put the first year of Zadina’s three-year, entry-level contract into effect.
My belief has been that the Red Wings should burn that first year because Zadina has shown flashes of high NHL skill and I’d want to bring him to the negotiating table early before he really blows the doors off and earns himself a big time contract

In case anyone is wondering, Zadina’s ELC kicking in doesn’t impact the Wings ability to send him back down to the Griffins and he’ll still be exempt in the Seattle expansion draft.

Beyond Headlines: Devils looking to trade Hall before holiday roster freeze | Sportsnet
Devils general manager Ray Shero is attempting to deal him before the NHL’s holiday roster freeze takes effect at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday and some rival executives believe that his decision to hold Hall out of the lineup over the weekend was done to drum up a stronger trade market.
I’m rooting for Taylor Hall to end up in the desert with the Coyotes. That would be much better than seeing him with the Avalanche.
