In Red Wings Land
Anthony Mantha expects ‘complicated’ negotiations with Red Wings this summer | Detroit News
“It will be complicated, I think,” Mantha said. “But it’s not in my power. My power is to play hockey. My agent and Stevie are going to talk, maybe they’ve started. I don’t even know.
“It’s hard to base right now. I played 40 games this year. I missed so many games, so it’s hard to go for the extension before the end of the year. We’ll see in the offseason.
“Hopefully it goes quick and I’ll be here for a long time.”
I would like it if Anthony Mantha was indeed here for a long time.
He’ll be 26-years-old at the start of next season, which I know isn’t super young, but I think he can still be part of the solution when the Red Wings are competitive again. Mantha‘s inability to stay healthy might lower his price a bit too. I don’t know what the magic number is in regards to years or cap hit, but a deal coming in under Dylan Larkin’s $6.1M seems about right to me.
Injury Updates
Zadina skating on his own; Seider expected to be back with Griffins | DetroitRedWings.com
“We’ll know more once he gets practicing with us,” Blashill said. “He skated again today. It’s another day of skating on his own. We’ll know more probably tomorrow night. He’ll see Dr. (Doug) Plagens tomorrow night. Once we get him to practice, I can give you a way more definitive time frame. We’re getting closer.”
It would be great to see Filip Zadina suit up for a few more games before the season ends. He was playing well before he got hurt.
And it looks like Moritz Seider will be back playing for the Griffins sooner rather than later.
This picture should make your day. Moritz Seider has re-joined @griffinshockey in Rockford and is practicing today. Still not certain of status for the weekend. pic.twitter.com/rzxEbOM0Fv

Filip Hronek, 22, had his entry-level contract slide not once but twice, and the right-shot defender could be a repeat champion in this category (Alexis Lafreniere notwithstanding) next season, when he’ll still be on his ELC.
Looking forward to Hronek getting even better next season.
