Quick Hits: The Four Scores and Seven Points Edition
In Red Wings Land
Anthony Mantha’s four goals leave Dallas star-stuck in Red Wings’ home-opening victory | Detroit News
Mantha had a career night with four goals — the last with 53.3 seconds left — and as the Red Wings opened the Little Caesars Arena portion of their schedule Sunday with a 4-3 victory.
Mantha one-timed a pass from Filip Hronek in the slot, cleanly beating goalie Anton Khudobin for his fifth goal in the two-game season, electrifying the sold out crowd.
It was the single best Wings’ performance since Johan Franzen’s five-goal night against the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 2, 2011.
Anthony Mantha is a damn scoring machine. Four goals last night and seven points on the season so far. He’s going to put up 50 this year.
Anthony Mantha joins John Sorrell (4-0—4 vs. NYA) as the only players in @DetroitRedWings franchise history to score four goals in their home opener. #NHLStats #NHLFaceOff https://t.co/gNcDvpf1e3

If Mantha keeps up his current pace, Steve Yzerman is going to have to forget about Alexis Lafrenière and Quinton Byfield and starting working his way further down this list.
