Red Wings’ Dennis Cholowski eyes happier Vancouver homecoming | MLive

DETROIT – A 4-year-old Dennis Cholowski watched on TV when Nicklas Lidstrom’s shot from center ice eluded Dan Cloutier and changed the course of the 2002 first-round playoff series between the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver.

“Of course, I remember that,” Cholowski said more than 17 years later. “Cloutier had a hole in his glove or something.”

Holy sh*t. He was FOUR?!??

I feel old.

“Big wake-up call, eye-opener, however you want to call it. It was tough, but I think it only made me better and stronger. I came back this year with a good attitude and a positive mindset.”

Dennis Cholowski was a healthy scratch last season when the Red Wings visited Vancouver. I bet he will be in the lineup tonight against the Canucks!
