Quick Hits: The Michael Rasmussen Edition

In Red Wings Land

Finally healthy, Michael Rasmussen aims for big second half in Grand Rapids | Detroit News

Rasmussen had five points in his first three games this season, and appeared headed for a monster season, before getting hurt in mid-November.

“It was a good start to the year,” Rasmussen said. “They’re (statistics) still good now. It’s tough being out that long, and coming back, but it’s been good. I’m happy to be down here. It’s a good group of guys, good coaches and training staff.

Michael Rasmussen kind of feels like the forgotten prospect a bit these days, eh?

Due to the Filip Zadina and Moritz Seider hype, it just doesn’t seem like we talk about him enough as part of the future of the Red Wings. His 14 points in 18 games is pretty solid. If Rasmussen does indeed have a big second half for the Griffins, we will absolutely be talking about him a lot more this offseason.

WWE star Xavier Woods on surreal NHL All-Star experience, bar arcades, and wrestling/hockey crossover | ESPN

ESPN: What was your first NHL game?

WOODS: An Atlanta Thrashers game. Years ago. My favorite memory about it was [between periods] they had college kids playing hockey in sumo suits. Literally one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life. To the point that next year, at this event, I’ve already pitched that we do a weird celebrity 3-on-3 in sumo suits. God, I would die, it’d be so much fun.
