Quick Hits: The Sensational Moritz Seider Edition
In Red Wings Land
‘He doesn’t look like a young player’: Moritz Seider is off to a strong start in Grand Rapids | The Athletic ($)
The Griffins were on a penalty kill midway through the second period, and Seider’s shift went like this: First, he used his stick to swat a saucer pass out of the air, immediately leading to a clear. Then, when the Milwaukee Admirals re-entered the zone and dumped the puck into the corner, Seider hustled over and finished a check. And then, after that, he got to the net, blocked a shot and swept the puck out wide.
All simple enough things, and, again, just one shift of one game. It’s not the whole story. But for an 18-year-old still adjusting to big minutes in a new league, it was in line with a couple of the early impressions those in Grand Rapids are starting to note.
Moritz Seider is going to be sensational, isn't he?
The kid is going to get a nine game look with the Red Wings at some point this season. I’m absolutely looking forward to seeing how he handles the game at the NHL level.

Heritage Classic by the Numbers | NHL.com
28 -- NHL regular-season outdoor games, including the 2019 Heritage Classic. Of the previous 27 games, 16 were hosted inside football stadiums, 10 inside baseball stadiums and one inside a soccer stadium.
I didn’t even know there was an outdoor game tonight.
