Red Wings’ moms trip breaks up mid-season monotony | MLive

The Red Wings hope to continue their success in Dallas Friday and Chicago on Sunday, their second moms trip (the other was during the 2015-16 season). They have taken dads trips every other season since 2005-06.

“Certainly, they deserve every bit as much as the dads to come and be a part of their sons’ journey and see firsthand what their sons’ lives are like on the road,” Blashill said. “It’s a different kind of atmosphere but a great one, nonetheless. It should be lots of fun.”

It’s always cool when the Wings do this trip.

Exercise patience. This isn’t an easy season for the Detroit Red Wings, who are unequivocally the worst team in the NHL (even Tyler Bertuzzi feels a bit guilty about being named an All-Star). But they have to take a few steps back before they can go forward, so trust that GM Steve Yzerman is building for the long play.

Joe Veleno had an assist in Canada’s 6-1 win over Slovakia. He also made a funny face.

Moritz Seider registered his fifth assist of the tournament and played a game-high 24:23 in Germany’s 4-0 win over Kazakhstan.
