Quick Hits: The Patience Edition

In Red Wings Land

Filip Zadina, other Red Wings’ youngsters need more time to develop | Detroit News

Surely there are many fans out there who wanted to see the likes of Filip Zadina, Joe Veleno, Moritz Seider, etc., on the NHL roster.

That wasn’t going to happen.

There are still plenty of veteran players on contracts who will be here for another year or two.

Some prospects didn’t exactly make it a tough decision for the Wings.

It’s disappointing that the Red Wings still have so many veteran players with terrible contracts. It’s also disappointing that the younger players didn’t force their way onto the roster this preseason.

We’re going to see guys like Zadina, Seider, Evgeny Svechnikov, Michael Rasmussen, etc. at some point this year. There will be the inevitable injuries. It just sucks we don’t get the immediate satisfaction of watching the most fun players and best lineup possible. Just need to continue to be patient, I guess.

Around the League

#NHLTopPlayers: Nos. 10-1 | NHL.com

1. Connor McDavid, C, Edmonton Oilers

For the third straight season, McDavid tops the list. The 22-year-old finished second in the NHL with 116 points (41 goals, 75 assists), behind Kucherov, and had at least one point in 66 of his 78 games for the Oilers.

Tough to argue with the top three here.
