Quick Hits: The Second Half Edition

In Red Wings Land

Notes: Larkin looking for strong second half of the season | DetroitRedWings.com

“Even the season Tyler is having and the season Fil (Hronek) is having, they’re having career years so far, I don’t think anyone can be satisfied really,” Larkin said. “I take it hard on myself with the losses. But since Christmas, there’s been that breather there and kind of hit a reset button for me and just tried to come to the rink every day and enjoy being here and playing the game and I think it’s helped my game on the ice and it’s helped our team.

It would be great to see Dylan Larkin have a second-half surge. His point total might not be where it was last year, but he’s still have a strong season overall.

Red Wings’ Filip Hronek flourishing with added responsibility | MLive

“He’s been thrown in there and playing big minutes and a lot of responsibility and he’s done a great job,” Larkin said. “I think every part of his game has matured. He’s got a great shot; he’s got a great first pass. He’s a guy that’ll get the puck on your stick. If you find him for his big one-timer, it’s always a dangerous play.”

Filip Hronek’s play/development has been the best part of the season for the Red Wings so far, right? It would be great to see it continue during the second half of the year.

Minus-35 for Andreas Athanasiou

Somebody has to have the worst plus-minus in the league, and when you’re skating a regular shift for a team that has a minus-71 goal differential through 45 games, well, you put yourself in peril….

Not ideal.
