Detroit Trades Up, Acquires Dominic Turgeon at 63rd overall

Detroit moved their 76th overall pick and 2015 3rd round pick for the 2014 63rd overall pick. A bit of a change-up thrown by the Ken Holland camp, but they must see something special in Dominic Turgeon.
Dominic is the son of former 1986 first overall pick, Pierre Turgeon.

Dominic is 6’2″ 196 lbs, and put up 10 goals and 21 assists in 65 games last season in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks. Turgeon played in the 2013 USA Hockey/CCCM All-American Prospects game and was ranked 130th amongst North American skaters in Central Scouting’s mid-term rankings prior to the 2014 NHL Draft. Again, take with that what you will.. I think the CSS sucks and should never be taken too heavily.
Dominic is commended for his setup abilities, and aggressiveness in the face-off dot. He has fantastic hockey sense and ability to create plays or get the puck by using his big frame.

Here are some highlights of him (He’s number 23):
