The Red Wings have four prospects that must be signed to their ELC by 5pm today or the franchise will lose Club Signing Rights. Here’s who is coming down to the wire:
- Gustav Berglund (D) 177th overall pick in 2019
- Albin Grewe (F) 66th overall pick in 2019
- Oscar Plandowski (D) 155th overall pick in 2021
- Pasquale Zito (F) 166th overall pick in 2021

Fortunately, these four players aren’t big names in the prospect pipeline. If you want my opinion (no one asked), I wouldn’t be heartbroken if Steve Yzerman moved on from these players. Nothing against them, I just think the pipeline needs a little housekeeping this summer.
Steve Yzerman will need to sign two other prospects by August 15th. One of which should be a priority:
- Jack Adams (F) 162nd pick in 2017
- Robert Mastrosimone (F) 54th pick in 2019
Mastrosimone is coming off a brilliant season with Arizona State University. He was highly-touted when the Wings took him in the 2nd round a few years ago. It’s a long shot that he would make the NHL club but the 22-year-old should get his start at the pro level in Grand Rapids.
