Friedman: Panthers, Kings in on Thomas Vanek
Thomas Vanek appears to be drawing plenty of interest around the league.
Good morning, everyone! It’s early, but the rumor mill is moving. Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the Los Angeles Kings and Florida Panthers are interested in forward Thomas Vanek:
Some things to watch: BOS/maybe CAL on Vrbata. FLA/LA on Vanek. Del Zotto showcase last night for PHI.

Florida has been noted to be all-in since heating up last month, so this is no surprise. The Kings are still trying to fight their way back up the standings in the Pacific, so Vanek could be a perfect fit for both teams as an offensive specialist. Other teams to keep on eye on would be the Habs. I still think they’d love to add Vanek if they can’t make a blockbuster for a player like Duchene.
No reports on what the asking price will be, but stay tuned with Winging it in Motown for updates on rumblings and news.
In case you missed it, the Red Wings dealt Steve Ott to the Habs during their 3-2 overtime win against the Canucks last night. This was after they traded defenseman Brendan Smith to the Rangers earlier on in the day.
UPDATE: Ken Campbell confirms a lot of interest in Thomas Vanek. Sounds like a deal is imminent — still no word on what the asking price is:
Red Wings talking to numerous teams about Thomas Vanek. Told by a source it looks though he'll be moving today.

Campbell continues -- sounds like the Panthers are going to win the Vanek sweepstakes:
