Game two of the Todd McLellan era is set for tonight at Little Caesars Arena. It’s not gonna get any easier for the Red Wings after a tough beatdown by the Toronto Maple Leafs just a day after Derek Lalonde was fired, but the 24-win Washington Capitals are in town with Alex Ovechkin in their holster.
Pretty tough game for Cam Talbot on Friday — Alex Lyon ended up relieving him and will get the start tonight. Other notworthy lineup changes include Joe Veleno getting a look in a top-six role, and the split between Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson. My opinion? It’s pretty clear that McLellan is splitting up his players in a way that will let him learn more about them and adjust on the go. Veteran move.
Win or lose, all we can realistically do is trust the process.
