Game Day Updates: Lightning vs Red Wings

Credit: Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Wings had most of this week off after closing out a successful west coast trip Tuesday night in Seattle. After today, the Wings won’t play for another two weeks, and hopefully will have an eight-game win streak going into the Four Nations Face Off pause.

This is a big game for both the Wings and Bolts — if Detroit wins, they have a chance to leap-frog in the standings and take over the third spot in the Atlantic. That is, of course, Ottawa loses against Florida. Certainly not a “do or die” scenario, at least not yet.

JT Compher is expected to make his return to the lineup. Dominik Shine was sent back to Grand Rapids earlier this week, and we expect Christian Fischer and Tyler Motte to both be scratched.

This is a national broadcast with an early puck drop… So I am preparing myself to be annoyed all afternoon. 🙂
