Game Day Updates: Red Wings vs Flyers

Credit: Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Wings are looking for a bounce-back win after dropping two in a row to some tough competition, and they’re going to have to do it in everyone’s least-favorite barn!

The Wings will have a new face in the lineup tonight — forward Elmer Soderblom was recalled from Grand Rapids early today and it appears he will slide into the lineup with Joe Veleno scratched. Soderblom skated on a line with Michael Rasmussen and Christian Fischer at practice this morning.

Alex Lyon will get the start against his former team. That means Lyon will have three straight appearances for Detroit since coming back from injury. Lyon started for the Wings the last time they played Philly in a 6-4 win about a month ago. That was not a great game for him, so here’s hoping for a better start this time around.

Some good news? Scott Laughton will be out for the Flyers tonight. You’ll recall (if you can stomach it) his four-goal game against Detroit on December 12th.
