Game Day Updates: Red Wings vs. Rangers Part II

Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

After dropping a 4-1 decision to the New York Rangers on Monday at Madison Square Garden, the Detroit Red Wings will get another crack at the Blueshirts tonight at Little Caesars Arena.

Detroit, 1-2-0 on the season, saw its offense look about as dangerous as it has this season during the second period of that meeting, but failed to get more than one goal past the soon-to-be highest-paid goaltender in the league in Igor Shesterkin. The Rangers are off to a nice start this season, with points in all three of their games (2-0-1).

Early reports are that the Red Wings may not have to worry about Shesterkin tonight, with Jonathan Quick slated to get his first start of the season. On the home team’s side, Albert Johansson is out in favor of Erik Gustafsson. Sounds like there’s a bug going through the Red Wings’ dressing room, per Daniella Bruce, but both Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp are said to be in tonight after not skating this morning, as is Vladimir Tarasenko after missing practice yesterday. Christian Fischer also draws back in after injury.
