Big game, must win, blahblahblah.
I’m out of cliches, my tank is near empty, and I am simply asking for a win. The Red Wings don’t control their own destiny at this point, and they’re on the road in Buffalo tonight against a team that is, well, playing much better hockey this month. The Sabres are coming off of back-to-back losses (sounds familiar) and are likely going to be pissed off because of that. Or maybe they’re getting complacent at the top of the Atlantic and are about to go on a nice losing streak? Please?
This is the first game of a back-to-back, with Philly on tap tomorrow at Little Caesars Arena. Detroit has 11 games left on the schedule and currently sit at 6th in the Atlantic. It’s grim, but it’s certainly not over (the Flyers are bad and we play them three times before the regular season ends). So, yeah I guess there is a chance. That would require the Red Wings to wake up and put their foot on the gas. (gas ain’t cheap tho)
Michal Postava has been called up from Grand Rapids and will backup John Gibson tonight. Cam Talbot is down with an injury, but a minor one FWIW. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gibson starts all 11 games left on the schedule. On the other side, it’s a familiar face. Alex Lyon will get the start for Buffalo tonight, and what a season he’s had. However, he just gave up six goals in Buffalo’s loss to Anaheim. Maybe something. Maybe not.
If you’re feeling optimistic, kindly lend it to our comments section. We gotta manifest a turnaround, folks.
