Game Day Updates: Red Wings vs Senators

Credit: Russell LaBounty-Imagn Images

The Red Wings will have a new face in the lineup tonight — Steve Yzerman acquired Craig Smith last week in a deal that sent Joe Veleno to Chicago. Detroit is on an ugly losing streak right now, yet still have a shot at making the playoffs with less than 20 games to go in the regular season.

The Senators are in the second wild card spot, but not too far ahead from where Detroit’s at. They made some moves at the deadline — like bringing in Dylan Cozens, who is centering their second line and playing alongside former Red Wing David Perron. Ottawa and Detroit are rivals these days. Expect a high-energy game from both sides. This is the definition of that term “meaningful hockey.”
