GIF Recap: Red Wings Down Predators

I think we’re all pretty happy the road trip is over. The Wings will now play a handful of games at home, and games that don’t require nearly as much travel. What better way to celebrate the ending of a road trip with a win? Detroit played extremely well for most of the game, but had a rough second period when they let Nashville rumble back into the game. The best part was that Preds fans kept chanting “HOWARD,” trying to heckle our goalie… Who wasn’t Jimmy Howard. What a bunch of fart-wagons. Anyways, shall we?

1st Period (7:22) – Brendan Smith was the first to get Detroit on the board. Pretty fitting that he wasn’t even supposed to play until like, 15 minutes before puck drop. The pass from Joakim Andersson is fantastic.. I think Joker should show that offensive flare off a bit more often.

2nd Period (2:03) – The fourth line was absolutely scolding hot for the first part of the game. Constantly creating chances, and pinning Nashville in their own zone. Drew Miller, The Silver Fox, put Detroit up by two with this one.. Looks like Pekka Rinne got a bit unlucky with this one, but his reaction to the goal is absolutely priceless.

3rd Period (3:56) – Detroit found themselves down 3-2 in the 3rd period after the Preds scored three unanswered goals in the 2nd. The equalizer came from a very talented Russian player. Nope, not Pavel Datsyuk… Alexey Marchenko. We call him ‘All-Sexy’ or ‘Tank’ for a reason. Tank picks up his first career NHL goal with a shot that is pure artistry. Top-shelf.

3rd Period (9:06) – Tie game? Leave it to the enchanting and extraordinary combination of Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar to fix that. This was a funny goal. A great entry by both players, Pavel dishes the puck to Tatar, and Tatar tries to dish it back. It was a lucky bounce for us, but it counts. Tomas Tatar now has 25 goals on the season.

Of course, Jonas Gustavsson had himself a very strong game. He let in three goals, but stood tall when the team needed him most. Stick-taps out to him for a strong road trip.

A strong performance, and a well-deserved win. Detroit goes 4-1-1 on their West Coast road trip, and is 10-0-2 against the Central division this year. Pretty damn good considering we’re missing one of our best players currently. The trade deadline is tomorrow, but for now.. We dance!
