Jeff Blashill Contemplating a “Change” on Defensive Pairings

There’s no hiding the fact that the Red Wings defensive corps have been underperforming through six games in the 2015 regular season. After a disappointing loss at the hands of Connor McDavid, and the Edmonton Oilers, it appears that head coach Jeff Blashill is prepared to change it up:

What does this mean? Does it mean a simple change like Brendan Smith in for Jakub Kindl? By the way it sounds, it appears to be much more significant than that. Here’s what the Red Wings have been working with:

Niklas KronwallJonathan Ericsson

Danny DeKeyserMike Green

Kyle Quincey – Jakub Kindl

Could we see DeKeyser start taking top minutes alongside Kronwall? Maybe Green sees time with Kronwall? Will Red Wings fans finally see Jonathan Ericsson moved to lesser competition like they have been asking for? This is all up in the air, of course. Pure speculation on our part. I think however you look at it, the way Blashill is presenting this projects a different structure to the Red Wings defensive pairings.
