Jeff Blashill wants to be the next Red Wings Head Coach
DETROIT, MI -- Buried underneath all of the coverage of Mike Babcock's press conference with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Larry Figurski, the sports anchor for WOOD-TV 8 in Grand Rapids tweeted out a quote from Griffins head coach, and heir to Mike Babcock's former position:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Jeff Blashill at <a href="https://twitter.com/griffinshockey">@griffinshockey</a> practice this morning "yes I would like to be the next head coach of the Detroit <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/RedWings?src=hash">#RedWings</a>" <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/news8?src=hash">#news8</a></p>— Larry Figurski (@larryfigurski) <a href="https://twitter.com/larryfigurski/status/601413409167532032">May 21, 2015</a></blockquote>

This is big news, because I had some speculation if Blashill would actually be interested in taking over where Babcock left off. Of course there shouldn't be any speculation, because what coach wouldn't want that?
Ken Holland stated yesterday that he will spend some time with the Griffins coach over the next couple of weeks, but he wants him to stay focused on winning another Calder Cup. No doubt in my mind that Ken Holland wants him to be a part of the team, as he stated yesterday that the Red Wings organization has Jeff Blashill's fingerprints all over it.
