Justin Abdelkader Ejected at World Championships for Head Shot on Vladimir Sobotka

Abby isn't doing himself any favors in the "I'm not a dirty player, I promise" department.

We all know that some players tend to get carried away at the World Championships. Alex Edler almost killing Eric Staal's knee last year is a pretty striking example. Edler received supplemental discipline, one game of which ultimately carried over into this year's Olympic games.

What Justin Abdelkader did against the Czech team this morning, however, is something else. The video below is courtesy of NBC's ProHockeyTalk.

It's the kind of hit that makes a person want to yell out, "GOOD LORD!" It also warrants a particular Michael Scott GIF that tends to be overused on the internet. The hit drew a five minute major penalty in addition to the game misconduct.

This is Abdelkader's second major infraction of the tournament. The Team USA captain previously served a one-game suspension for a knee-to-knee hit on Kazakhstan's Konstantin Pushkaryov. At the NHL level, he previously served a two-game suspension for hitting Toni Lydman in the first round of the 2013 playoffs against the Ducks. The Red Wings would go on to win in seven games anyway.
