While the Red Wings “enjoy” the offseason, the club’s AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, are making some noise in the Calder Cup Playoffs. Last night in Milwaukee, in game one ofthe Central Division Finals, the Griffins cruised to a 4-2 victory over the Admirals and now lead the best-of-five series 1-0.

It was mostly thanks to a mostrous performance by Marco Kasper, Detroit’s first-round pick in 2022, with three points on the night — including the game-winning goal:

Kasper also picked up a pair of helpers, one of which was a beautiful saucer pass to setup Zach Aston-Reese:

Carter Mazur, Detroit’s third-round pick in 2021, also had a notable performance by scoring his second goal of the Calder Cup Playoffs to open the scoring some five minutes into the game:

While Marco Kasper earned the honors of first star of the game, Sebastian Cossa was the third star with 25 saves on 27 shots. Cossa went undefeated in regulation against the Admirals during the regular season (3-0-1).
