Game two of the Central Division Finals didn’t go so well for the Grand Rapids Griffins.
After winning game one, the Griffins are now knotted with the Milwaukee Admirals. The series swings to Grand Rapids now for games three and four.
Yaroslav Askarov stymied the Griffins offense until late in the game — stopping every shot until Carter Mazur broke the shutout at 15:34 for the third period. Dominik Shine would claw the Griffins back to a one-goal deficit before Jasper Weatherby plunged the dagger into GR’s comeback hopes.
Sebastian Cossa played 57:25 and stopped 21 of the 25 shots he saw. Meanwhile, Nate Danielson, Detroit’s first pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, made his Griffins debut — skating on a line with Elmer Soderblom and Taro Hirose. It was a forgettable first game for Danielson — no points, zero shots, and a -1.
