Red Wings Picks in Rounds 3-7
3rd rd, 80th overall: Ondrej Becher (C) Prince George, WHL
-Huge numbers in the WHL last season: 32 goals, 64 assists
-10 points (3-7–10) in 7 games with Czechia at World Juniors
-20 years old, so he should be “in the system” soon
-Scouting reports say he needs to work on his skating, but it seems like Steve Yzerman has himself another high-ceiling pick
4th rd, 126th overall (via Dallas): Landon Miller (G) Soo, OHL
-This pick seems way off the board, but adding another young goalie is always a good option in later rounds.
5th rd, 144th overall: John Whipple (D) USNTDP
-Heavy defense, good skating
-Committed to Univ. of Minnesota… So, another Minnesota guy.
6th rd, 176th overall: Charlie Forslund (LW) SWE
-BIG winger out of Sweden — 6’3″ 212 lbs
-Earned “Most Points by a Junior” in HockeyEttan last season (19 pts, 19 games)
-Need to see him against higher competition still
7th rd, 203rd overall (via NJD+SJS): Austin Baker (LW) USNTDP
-Another high-ceiling forward with Red Wings in his blood (native of White Lake)
-Won’t need to go far to watch him, he’ll be at Michigan State University next year
7th rd, 208th overall: Fisher Scott (D)
-Will play at Colorado College next year
-Was not ranked on any scouting service
Other Red Wings news, rumors
