Mitch Callahan Called Up!
Surprise! Landon Ferraro was sent back to Grand Rapids last night, and that leaves the Wings with only 12 healthy forwards on the roster. Mitch Callahan, who will presumable play, will be the 13th healthy forward.

Mitch Callahan should become the 8th player to make his NHL debut with the Wings this season. He's had another fantastic year in Grand Rapids, already doubling his point total and more than doubling his goal total from last year while reducing his PIM by almost half.Callahan has played in 66 games so far with the Griffins and is 3rd on the team in points (40) 2nd in goals (25), is tied for 2nd in power play goals (6) and is 2nd only to Cory Emmerton in short handed goals (2), leads the team in +/- (+21), and leads the team in shots on goal (185).
Callahan plays with a lot of energy and never say die attitude. He's become very skilled at working in the crease, tipping in goals, and scoring dirty goals. He gets under people's skin without letting them get under his, and plays with an edge without crossing the line. He has 7 points (4G, 3A) in his last 5 games with the Griffins.
Here's a little more about Callahan's game and that I wrote, in case you're not already familiar with it.
