The Wings, who have managed to go 1-7-2 thus far in October, are coming off a 2-1 Friday night loss against the Winnipeg Jets. Like most of Detroit’s games so far in 2018-19, they were greatly out-shot (21-4 in the second period) and basically outplayed in all aspects of the game, including 21 total giveaways to the Jets. Woof.

On the bright side, which seems to be a reoccurring phrase in Hockeytown this season, Dennis Cholowski continues to see a lot of ice time and managed to tally another assist on Detroit’s lone goal against Winnipeg.

But that’s about it as far as silver linings go these days.

The Stars on the other hand, have won two of their last three games, most recently 5-2 against the Ducks on Thursday evening. Led in points by Tyler Seguin (11), and goals by young defenseman John Klingberg (5), Dallas’ roster is rounded out by a group of both talented young players and some productive veterans who will undoubtedly give the rebuilding Red Wings all they can handle.

The two teams have actually had some spirited and exciting contests over the last couple seasons, but both team’s rosters have changed a bit in that time. However, if you were a betting man or woman, you’d more than likely put your dollars down on Dallas based purely on what you see on paper.

But who knows, maybe the Wings can play spoiler and actually produce that “60 minutes of hell” that Jeff Blashill has been preaching all year so far. Any given Sunday, right? I mean, technically it is a Sunday game so there’s a chance there.
