Bruins Blog: Stanley Cup of Chowder

After a string of good performances by the Red Wings, the Wings were not able to keep their momentum going, and lost last night to the San Jose Sharks.

Today it is time to right the wrong, and hopefully the Wings will leave Boston with two more points than they had when they arrived.

Tonight’s game will be an interesting one. Yesterday was Pavel Datsyuk’s first game of the season and Justin Abdelkader’s first game since he signed his new seven-year extension. Abdelkader did not have a phenomenal game, which did not help answer some of the questions that had been raised about giving him such a long-term contract. I am expecting Abdelkader to be hungry to prove his critics wrong tonight.

While the season is still very young, the Wings currently hold a two point lead over the Bruins in the Atlantic Division, with one more game played. As the season continues on, I would expect the Wings and the Bruins to continue at close to their current paces, and given that, the two points that are up for grabs tonight may very well come into play come April.
