Morning Skate: Penguins at Red Wings, Preview and How to Watch

Time: 7:30 PM Eastern
Place: Little Caesar’s Arena, Detroit, MI
TV: FSD, NHL Network
Radio: 97.1 FM The Ticket  //  1270 AM

Who’s ready to watch some decade-old Stanley Cup Final clips? Because they’re going to be rolled out tonight when the Penguins visit Detroit. “These two teams used to be really good, and they hated each other. Now Pittsburgh is still good, and Detroit is trying to become good again. Pittsburgh still has some of the core players from 08 and 09, but Detroit doesn’t. Narrative!”

The Penguins had a four game win streak snapped last night by the Boston Bruins. During that winning streak the Pens scored 19 goals. The Wings have had 13 scored against them in their last two. That is… (checks notes)… bad. The Wings basically have to hope for some magic tonight against a tough Pittsburgh team that is third in the East and will be looking to recover quickly from a tough loss against a tough Bruins squad.

The thing that should help the Wings is that the Penguins are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, but the Red Wings have been notorious at losing those games this year. Still, these are the games you really want to stick around for because if the Wings are going to mount a comeback, it’s going to be against a team with tired legs from the night before.
