For some reason the NHL made this the last regular season NHL game one could possibly watch before the All-Star break and their partners at NBC made this one the nationally-televised matchup.  I mean, the only other choice was Winnipeg at Columbus at 7:30, but to be honest that’s probably the more-entertaining matchup.

The Wild welcome a Wings team trying to be physical and competitive but still losing a lot of games and generally dropping like flies to the injury bug. We already know Mike Green is going to be well-rested for the trade deadline to pass by thanks to an injury on Monday that will have him out about a month. We also know that Frans Nielsen is going to miss this one.

I don’t anticipate the team is going to call anybody up to join them in Minnesota for this evening, so that should mean that Christoffer Ehn and Jonathan Ericsson come back into the lineup to give us 18 skaters.

On the other side of the ice, the Wild are in the playoff hunt in the West, technically. They’re seven points out of the wild card but have the worst goal differential of any of the mass of teams fighting for the playoffs (at a laughably close -12 considering where we’re standing). They’re also not helping their cause much of late, having the exact same 3-6-1 record in their last ten games as the Red Wings.
