The Panthers have been lounging since their OT win in Denver on Wednesday - a bounceback game after getting trounced by the Canucks 7-2. So, advantage goes to the Red Wings on that one. Speaking of really lopsided scores, the Wings played last night in Carolina and it was a wild one. Mick reached maximum Mick which is always fun. AA showed signs of being un-cursed with two great assists on Mantha’s goals and Bert and Larkin teamed up for a goal. Let’s not talk about anything else that happened, agree?
The Panthers are sitting 4th in the Atlantic having gone 6-3-4. Yep, already 4 OT losses for them. Tonight would be a great night to pour some on as the Panthers are giving up goals if we could just get them on net.
They can be one of those teams where you don’t really remember who their players or coaches are but every time you hear a name you’re like “ohhhh, I didn’t know he was there” or “ohhh, THAT guy”. Huberdeau, Dadonov, and Hoffman are the guys we need to shut down to give ourselves a chance to actually win. Barkov as well, he only has one goal but has racked up 14 assists. Kind of like a functional Filppula.
Bobrovsky has been carrying the load in net but playing kind of poopy, and the Wings are always a good team to play your backup against, so we may be seeing Montembeault when the lineups are posted this afternoon.
ICYMI, for our side Jimmy got chased halfway through the game last night (blame Mike Green though to be faaaaiiirrr). We’ll see if Jimmy gets another swing tonight or if we stick to the formula and keep Bernier on the schedule. Given how pathetic the defense was last night, expect to see Cholowski back in the lineup unless Blash is committing to the tank.
Let’s Go Red Wings!
