The Wings arrive in Ottawa having been thoroughly destroyed by themselves on Thursday. Yes, the Wild scored those 7 goals, but they can’t really take credit for the Wings’ implosion. Jimmy Howard was yanked again and Mantha’s lone goal did not encourage further effort from the team.
The Senators, on the other hand, are coming into this game energized having beaten the Canucks 5-2 thanks to a hat trick from Bobby Ryan. It was Ryan’s first game back after entering the Player Assistance Program and the outpouring of support from the fans left more than just Ryan fighting back tears.
As far as Wings injuries - Fabbri is ready to go and please please please spark some offense we are begging you. Perlini was in for Bertuzzi at practice yesterday, sounds like Bert is still a question mark for tonight. Lindstrom skated but was an “extra” with Ericsson as Cholowski and Goloubef were the bottom pairing.
But hey it’s Leap Day! Which means we’re going to win today then not win again for 4 years.
LET’S GO RED WINGS!
