Hurricanes Blog: Canes Country

What a day to wake up to. A 4-0 trouncing of the Maple Leafs, after a hattrick from Justin Abdelkader and a goal from Dylan Larkin, has the Wings off to a great start to their season.

Tonight the Wings face off against the Carolina Hurricanes, a team not too dissimilar from the Maple Leafs. Both teams are going through a rebuilding phase and both teams boast a group of young talented players. And, the Hurricanes also employ a former Red Wings‘ coach, Bill Peters, who was one of Mike Babcock’s assistants here in Detroit.

The circumstances are similar. Let’s hope that the result will be as well.

Petr Mrazek will be starting tonight’s game, while the Hurricanes, coming off a 2-1 loss to the Predators on Thursday, will be without one of their better players, James Wisniewski, after he tore his ACL and is now out for six months.

Game two of 82 is tonight, and while there is a long season ahead, every single win counts. Let’s Go Red Wings!
