As Gustav “Nincklas” Lindstrom told us after beating Chicago, Detroit is on a winning streak! I don’t think one game counts as a streak, but NHL.com has “W1” in our row for “Streak,” so I’m technically correct, which as we all know is the best kind of correct.
Unfortunately, we are playing Tampa Bay, who is a pretty good hockey team. They beat Boston 5-3 last night, in a possible preview of the Eastern Conference Finals. Or, more likely the 2nd round of the playoffs because the NHL playoff system is stupid.
Tampa Bay has more points in the standings than Detroit has goals scored this season. OK, that’s not true, but isn’t it bad that it’s believable enough to trick some people? A real stat is that Detroit has 2 players with 40 points or more. Tampa has 7.
This game could get real ugly, real quickly. If it does, at least the 5pm start time means most people won’t have to sacrifice sleep to watch it.
LET’S GO RED WINGS!
