New York Rangers vs Detroit Red Wings: Updates, Lineups, Keys to the Game

Updates

Lineups

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME TERRIBLE

There’s no word yet as to what the adjusted lines will be. Jimmy Howard is starting.

We will update when we have more information.

UPDATE: Well, we have more information.

So….. de la Rose at 1C. That’s a bold choice Cotton.

UPDATE 2:

UPDATE 3: Detroit has deleted the tweet with the projected lines. I’m guessing that means that Ehn is playing tonight. That’s just a guess at this point right now. Basically, your guess is as good as mine for the lines.

NEW YORK

Chris Kreider – Mika Zibanejad – Jimmy Vesey
Vladislav Namestnikov – Ryan Strome – Jesper Fast
Brendan Lemieux – Lias Andersson – Pavel Buchnevic
Filip Chytil – Brett Howden – Brendan Smith

Brady Skjei – Neal Pionk
Marc Staal – Anthony DeAngelo
Libor Hajek – Kevin Shattenkirk

Henrik Lundqvist
Alexandar Georgiev

Keys to the Game

Someone Other Than Larkin

I love seeing Dylan Larkin taking the next step and morphing into the next Red Wings captain right before our eyes. However, I would love it more if there were a few others stepping up and pitching offensively on a consistent basis as well. Andreas Athanasiou is the closest and he seems to be gaining steam so he just might be one, but they need another. (I wrote this a while back for a different game and it still applies to tonight’s game and every other game until the offensive potential on this team steps up).

Get the Lead

As talked about in the Morning Skate, Jimmy Howard loves playing against the Rangers. The Red Wings need to take advantage of this fact and find a way to get the lead for him so that his efforts are not wasted.

Feed Fil

So Filip Zadina got his first NHL goal on a fantastic set up and shot from the face off dot. Now that “get a goal” monkey is off his back the Red Wings have five games to see if the kid can get into a groove before heading down to Grand Rapids for the stretch run and playoffs. This is not an extremely agile or stingy Rangers blue line and while Henrik Lundqvist is still the King, his crown has lost a little luster this season. This is a good team and test for Zadina in his fifth NHL contest.
