NHL Announces World Cup of Hockey Rosters to be Announced Wednesday, March 2

Did we all forget about the World Cup of Hockey?! It’s making it’s return in September (2016), and will be held in Toronto, Ontario. The NHL has announced the preliminary schedule for each team to announce their rosters on Wednesday, March 2nd. Sportsnet will be broadcasting the announcements starting at 4 PM EST:

Russia: 2am ET
Finland: 4am ET
Czech Republic: 11am ET
Sweden: 12:30pm ET
Europe: 4:30pm ET
North America: 5:15pm ET
Canada: 6:05pm ET
USA: 6:45pm ET

The Detroit Red Wings have a handful of names that will be in the mix for multiple rosters. Dylan Larkin, Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Petr Mrazek, Justin Abdelkader, and Danny DeKeyser are just a few that come to mind. It’s going to be really interesting to see how this entire event unravels, since it will be broadcasted by ESPN in the States. We’ll have the full announcements when they are made in the coming weeks.

The World Cup of Hockey returns in September 2016 in Toronto, and is a joint effort of the NHLPA and the NHL, in cooperation with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is expected that more than 150 of the best players in the NHL will participate in this tournament.

Live coverage of all tournament games will be provided by Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada, ESPN in the United States, Viasat in the Nordic Region, and Czech TV in the Czech Republic.
