YO, IT’S GAME DAY!

After a summer full of big moves, exciting events, and a memorable preseason, it’s finally here. Opening night at the Joe Louis Arena agains Mike Babcock, and his Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mike, your hockey team… WOOF!

Tonight is a memorable night not only for Red Wings fans, but for players like rookie Dylan Larkin who will play in his first career NHL game, not to mention guys like Teemu Pulkkinen, and Landon Ferraro who will play in their first NHL season openers. I guess you could say it’s a big night for Jeff Blashill, too. You know, seeing that it’s his first game as a head coach in the NHL. There’s a lot to be excited about, folks. The Maple Leafs opened their season on Wednesday but dropped a 3-1 decision against the Montreal Canadiens. Even though they were outscored, the Leafs managed to control possession and look like a team who are taking steps to changing their ways.

After defeating the Leafs twice in exhibition this year, the Wings look to make a big impression, and start the season strong on a back-to-back weekend stint. Jimmy Howard is in net, Dylan Larkin is on the first line, and the Red Wings are back to being the most relevant professional sports team in the city of Detroit again. Let’s do this.
