Could this be a precursor to another move? A possible waiver claim, or call-up could be imminent. Andersson has likely seen his last days as an everyday Red Wings player. He does not require waivers as he did not meet the 10-game/30 day limit.
With Danny DeKeyser and Mike Green both hurt, I'm putting money on a defenseman being called up. The Grand Rapids Griffins have signed defenseman Joel Chouinard to a PTO contract, so this solidifies the reality of a defenseman being called up. It's worth pointing out that the Griffins play three-straight games starting tomorrow, so this could explain the move.
UPDATE: Scratch the idea of Christian Ehrhoff coming to Detroit:
Ehrhoff (LAK) clears waivers.
